Let Freedom Ring Celebration!

For over 15 years, Sorelle Group has been managing and producing the Let Freedom Ring Celebration. This Celebration features the John Thompson Jr. Legacy of a Dream Award–named for the legendary Georgetown head men’s basketball coach emeritus–has been presented each year since 2003 to an individual or group who reflects the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and conducts public service in Georgetown’s Jesuit tradition of being “women and men for others.”

The award is presented each year during the Let Freedom Ring Celebration, a musical tribute to the civil rights icon, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Let Freedom Ring Celebration is a partnership between Georgetown University and the Kennedy Center that began in 2003. Legendary performers such as Roberta Flack, Kennedy Center Honorees Ossie Davis, Jessye Norman and Aretha Franklin, and Grammy ® award winners India.Arie, Patti LaBelle, Bobby McFerrin, Dionne Warwick, Yolanda Adams, Gladys Knight, Vanessa Williams and Audra McDonald and Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Chaka Khan have all graced the stage for this annual tribute.
